Class Descriptions

Ballet
FUNDAMENTALS OF DANCE – Ages 3-4 – a 45 minute class where dancers learn fundamental ballet positions, stretching for dance, and basic combinations.
BALLET 1 – Ages 4-5- Ballet barre, stretches, and combinations for new dancers.
BALLET 2 – Ages 5.5-6.– Beginning barre, stretches, and combinations for young dancers with class experience, or older beginning dancers.
BALLET 3 – Ages 6.5-7 - Beginning barre and combinations for young dancers with class experience, or older beginning dancers.
BALLET 4 – Ages 7 -8.5 + - Beginning technique for dancers with previous experience who are preparing to go en pointe.
BALLET 5 – Ages 9 + - Intermediate Ballet technique for young dancers en pointe. This class is used as a placement class for new students with 2+ years of dance experience.
BALLET 6 – Approval required- Apprentice Company level ballet for dancers with at least 2 years en pointe. Please contact us for approval before enrolling in this level.
BALLET 7 – Approval required -Company level ballet. Please contact us for approval before enrolling in this level.
Contemporary Ballet
Contemporary dance borrows from jazz, ballet, funk, social dance styles and many modern dance styles of the 20th century. Contemporary dance encourages natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation. Contemporary Ballet focuses on self-expression, body movement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use and safe body alignment. Classes start with a comprehensive warm-up and gradually build up to more elaborate combinations.
