San Pedro City Ballet, home of American Ballet Theatre superstar Misty Copeland, is holding auditions for its annual production of The Nutcracker.
Auditions will take place at San Pedro Ballet School (1231 S. Pacific Avenue in San Pedro) on Saturday, September 14 2019. The Ballet Company is seeking performers ages 4 to adults, and all levels of dance. No experience is necessary.
All participants must enroll in classes at San Pedro Ballet School. A $210 non-refundable rehearsal and costume fee is required to participate; $195 rehearsal fee for second family members. Payment is due September 14 at the audition.
The 2019 production of The Nutcracker will take place at the historic Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro on Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 15. The show features dance, magic, gorgeous sets and costumes, and is fun for the whole family.

San Pedro City Ballet was established in 1994 by nationally recognized dancers and teachers Cynthia and Patrick Bradley as a not-for-profit dance company serving greater Los Angeles. The company performs The Nutcracker annually at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, as well as produces original modern works for a variety of venues throughout Southern California. Former student Misty Copeland recently made history by becoming the first African American female Principal dancer at the prestigious American Ballet Theatre in New York. She is considered ballet’s first breakthrough star in decades, and has been featured in a commercial for Under Armour that went viral; danced with Prince on tour; has written a bestselling autobiography; is developing a new TV show; and was recently featured on the cover of Time magazine. Copeland was discovered by Cynthia Bradley as a 13-year-old through one of San Pedro City Ballet’s outreach programs.
